Craft Books – Making Paper Flowers

Well here’s a new category for selling crafts online – a craft book review!

I happened to be talking to Robert Morris from OurPaperFlowers.com the other day and he asked if I would like to review their craft ebooks (he and wife Jane run the business together). It occurred to be that there were a number of things here that were of interest to crafters – not just their paper flower books, so here we go!

The Art of Making Paper FlowersFirst off, from a craft business point of view, look how clear and professional the site is. No beating about the bush, if you want to learn how to make paper flowers, this is where to get the info!

They also have a free newsletter. I’m always going on about how important it is for you to be able to stay in touch with your craft site visitors and here’s that in action.

There’s a short video, and then some content detail that tells you what you can expect, all backed up with that important money-back guarantee which reassures customers that they aren’t taking any risks by buying either of the books. Finally they help you out with a link to where you can actually get the materials to make paper flowers, just in case you’re stuck

But what about the paper flower making books themselves?

I have to admit I wasn’t all that interested in making paper flowers but having read through these two ebooks and seen the beautiful work possible, I might actually give it a go!

Both books are nice and clear and easy to read. There are sections on tools, materials, techniques, arrangements and usage, which give a much wider range of possibilities than I had first considered. Then it’s down to the actual flowers – and surprisingly realistic they look too.

Make Paper Flowers for Your WeddingAn apple blossom spray, asters, tulips, roses, calla lily (my personal favorite), the list goes on. There’s a whole florists shop-worth here!

The Art of Making Paper Flowers is the first book and has fifteen different paper flower types for you to try. In the paper flowers for weddings book I was expecting just an extension of the first (it is a bit more expensive) but in fact it’s almost entirely new styles and paper flower designs including bouquets and corsages. Actually it’s much more than a wedding book – you could use these paper flowers all over the place.

Which got me to thinking. You could decorate your craft stall or craft show booth with a few paper flowers – regardless of your craft. If you’re photographing your crafts you could use a few paper flowers in your staging. If you have an allied craft – another paper craft perhaps – why not expand into making paper flowers as well. You can probably think of some things that I haven’t, I suspect there’s a world of possibilities.

So Robert and Jane have a business set-up which seems to do all the things I would suggest to anyone, and a couple of ebooks which I have no hesitation in recommending. Very interesting stuff. Full details here.
